The Benjamin Franklin Half Dollar was designed by John R. Sinnock, whose initials appear below the shoulder of Franklin. Approximately 510 million Franklin Halves were minted during 1948 to 1963. Coins with no mintmark were minted in Philadelphia, coins with a "D" were minted in Denver and with an "S" in San Francisco. Thirty-five coins form a complete year-mint set of Franklin half dollars.
This set is sold with 35 coins ranging from every date and mintmark from 1948 to 1963. All coins come in Very Fine to Extremely Fine or Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Included with this set is an additional Franklin Half to show the reverse of the coin and a George Washington Commemorative Half Dollar. All 37 coins are each enclosed in a clear lucite capsule, encased in a royal plush velvet tray with a solid wood walnut-finished chest with a plexiglas cover. The chest dimensions are 12" x 15".
