 Kennedy Half Dollars Chest Set1964-PresentChief engraver for the U.S. Mint in 1963 was Gilroy Roberts who designed the obverse of the Kennedy Half Dollar. Frank Gasparro designed the reverse of the half dollar using the Presidential Coat of Arms. This half dollar replaced the Franklin half dollar after the assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963, and was put into circulation in 1964.
Sold with this collection are 45 coins all in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. It also includes the scarce 1987 coin that was struck only for collectors! Each of these coins are enclosed in a clear lucite capsule for their protection and encased in a royal plush velvet tray with a solid wood walnut finished plexiglas cover. The chest dimensions are 12" x 15".
Composition 1964: 90% Silver Composition from 1965-1970: 80% Silver, 20% Copper bonded to inner core of 20% Silver, 80% Copper
Notice: The Kennedy Half Dollar was minted in 1975 but bears the dual date "1776-1976." All coins have been hand selected.
