The Eisenhower Dollar was created to honor President Dwight D. Eisenhower who died in 1969. Designed by Frank Gasparro, it was minted for only seven years (1971-1978). Regular circulation issues were minted in a copper-nickel clad composition. Special limited mintage collector coins were minted in 40% silver. Regular issue coins were produced at the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. The special 40% silver coins and copper-nickel clad proof coins were minted in San Franciusco. This complete 32 piece set contains 16 Brilliant Uncirculated and six proof copper-nickel clad composition coins. Also included are five Brilliant Uncirculated coins and five proof 40% silver coins. Each coin comes enclosed in a protective lucite capsule and is mounted in a deluxe solid wood display case.
