A young English engraver, George T. Morgan was working at the Royal Mint in London when he was hired by the Philadelphia Mint as a "special engraver" at the salary of eight dollars a day! The Morgan Dollars reverse design was created first. The unusual feature of this reverse side was the use of gothic lettering in the motto "In God We Trust" which was in Old English. It was the first time in United States coinage history that gothic lettering was used on a coin. The model was Anna Williams, a philosophy instructor teaching at a school near the Philadelphia Mint. Morgan described her profile as the most perfect profile he had ever seen in the United States and England. In 1921 the Morgan Dollar ceased production.

Sold in this collection are five Morgan Dollars dating from the 1870s, 1880s, 1890s, 1900s and 1921. This collection is also sold with a "silver-look" display case with a plexiglass cover. This set is available in two different grades, Very Fine and Brilliant Uncirculated.
