Morgan Silver Dollars in Original Treasury Department Government Holder Set
1882, 1883, and 1884 Carson City Mint
The Carson City Mint was in operation for only 24 years (from 1870 to 1893), producing some of the lower mintage 90% Silver Morgan Dollars. In fact, only 2% of all Morgan Silver Dollars ever minted come from Carson City. Due to an abundance of circulating Silver Dollars from other mints, some of these Carson City Dollars ended up in treasury department vaults and remained undiscovered until the 1960s. In the early 1970s (and again in 1980) the U.S. Government decided to sell these coins to the general public. These coins were sealed in special holders along with certificates of authenticity and deluxe boxes. Because so few were put into government holders during the official treasury sales, they are very scarce and in great demand by both collectors and investors.
These sets are sold in the original U.S. Government sealed holders along with a Certificate of Authenticity. These sets come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and are available in three different years: 1882-cc, 1883-cc and 1884-cc.
