Treasury Notes, also known as Coin Notes, resulted from the Legal Tender Act of July 14, 1890 which provided for their backing by gold or silver coin. The words "Treasury Note" are worked into the borders on the front side of the note and have treasury seals printed in red or brown ink. There were only two issues, series 1890 and 1891.
This bill is sold in a deluxe currency protective sleeve.
