During World War II, the Treasury Department issued special emergency currency to be used only in the Hawaiian Islands. These silver certificates were printed with unique markings. The serial numbers and treasury seals were printed in brown ink with the word "Hawaii" overprinted on both sides. This was done to protect the money supply in the event the enemy confiscated this currency, it would be declared worthless.
This bill is sold in a deluxe currency protective sleeve.
