Lincoln Cent Folder Collection
When the Lincoln Cent was released into circulation on August 2, 1909, it was the first coin to bear the motto "In God We Trust." The number of coins struck was around 27,995,000. The designer was Victor D. Brenner, a sculptor from New York. This cent was minted to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Lincolns Birth.
Collection sold with ninety coins. Condition is Very Good to Extremely Fine, including the rare 1922D. Mounted in its own folder.
Composition from 1909-1942: Bronze (95% Copper, 5% Tin and Zinc)
Composition 1943: 100% Steel with a thin outside layer of Zinc
Composition from 1944-1945: “Shell Casing” Bronze (95% Copper, 5% Zinc)
Composition from 1946-1962: Bronze (95% Copper, 5% Tin and Zinc)
Composition from 1962-1982: 95% Copper, 5% Zinc
Composition from 1982-Present: 97.5% Zinc, 2.5% Copper
