Morgan Silver Dollar Rolls
1889, 1890, 1896 and 1921
The Morgan Silver Dollar was minted from 1878 to 1904 and again for one more year in 1921. No Morgan Silver Dollars were minted from 1905 to 1920. This was due to the high supply of dollars in circulation and the shortage of silver bullion.
Designed by George T. Morgan, the obverse features a left facing portrait of Lady Liberty. The designer’s initial “M” appears on both sides of the coin, on Liberty’s neck on the obverse, and on the ribbon’s left loop on the reverse. The reverse depicts an eagle holding arrows and an olive branch.
Composition: 90% silver, 10% copper
